To the members of the jury,
As an observer and expert in immersive technologies for nearly 20 years, I am writing this letter to formally endorse Marelle Studio’s application to the “AndroidXR Developer Catalyst Program”. Their project, developed for the Musée de la Sape, represents, in my view, a concrete and mature demonstration of the evolution of the XR market, particularly in the AR glasses segment.
The success of this application rests on the team’s technical pragmatism and expertise. Rather than seeking total immersion, which is often resource-intensive and difficult to stabilize, Marelles Studio optimizes the use of current devices while accounting for their limitations. They skillfully integrate the constraints of field of view and processing power into their design to serve the narrative’s relevance. This ability to deliver a beautiful, fluid experience, where the virtual object complements the real object without overwhelming it, is an essential criterion for success in achieving widespread adoption.
The cultural and heritage sector is currently at a turning point. While virtual reality headsets have paved the way, the logistical constraints and social isolation they impose are hindering their widespread adoption by the general public. Marelle Studio’s approach with the “visio-guide” concept directly addresses this challenge. By transforming the traditional audio guide into a lightweight, context-aware visual interface, they offer a solution with immediate utility for institutions. Economically speaking, the culture and tourism sector represents a major driver of adoption for smart glasses. It is through use in controlled environments (museums, historic sites) that consumers will recognize the added value of these devices compared to smartphones. In my view, the impact of smart glasses in these sectors will be sufficient to transform niche uses into a mass market, validating the utility of augmented reality in everyday life.
Through its numerous projects in the fields of augmented reality and virtual reality, Marelle Studio has amply demonstrated its reliability and professionalism. For all these reasons, I believe the company’s work aligns perfectly with the objectives of the “AndroidXR Developer Catalyst Program”. Supporting such a project will demonstrate that AndroidXR can drive solutions that are both innovative and commercially viable.
I remain at your disposal for any further information.
