As expected, this September was dedicated to the Meta meeting, the famous Meta Connect 2025! You will find in our monitoring several articles that will help you list all the announcements made in the field of XR. If, like many, you were interested in the development of the range of connected glasses, you may have remained a little hungry. It’s the curse of people who work in the field, they are hardly impressed by features that are not so original 🙂 Let’s say that things are moving forward and that « ++ » glasses are (slowly) arriving in our landscape. For augmented reality, we will hear a little:
In this watch, you will find articles analyzing the evolution of XR in retail/commerce and the world of music to give you some keys to understanding the technological development to anticipate. We cannot ignore today the acceleration of hardware deployment (at least for mixed reality headsets), but if we look at the deployment of uses, things are more nuanced. Moreover, as researchers show, understanding the sector is not helped by terms put forward like « Spatial Computing. » Nothing new in technology, you might reply. To make people believe that you are the first in a sector, the easiest thing is to invent the name!
On the business side, September was a relatively quiet month, although Amazon is keen to enter the eyewear market, both for the public and for professionals. At the same time, Snap confirms that 2026 will be the pivotal year for this type of equipment, it’s make or break. And if there’s one person we should listen to in this sector, it’s Evan Spiegel, its CEO.
To find innovative uses this month, we have to turn to Starbucks, which presented a truly impressive inventory automation service. In Brussels, a zoo decided to do without animals thanks to XR, a true vision of the future! And we can’t ignore the collaboration between Hideo Kojima, creator of the Metal Gear Solid series, and Niantic Spatial. The result remains a mystery, but we can’t wait!
