Augmented Times – Monthly Augmented Reality News – September 2024

As expected, September 2024 was the month of Meta and the official presentation of the « Orion » glasses. In short, it is a huge step forward in the augmented reality glasses sector! Even if the model is not yet available and remains a kind of devkit for the company’s partners, all professionals were able to appreciate the quality of the device. At the same time, many other models of glasses have been announced and all are significantly below. We may have here the new standard, which finally corresponds to what we were all waiting for.

It should also be noted that several companies have announced substantial fundraisings. Even if the XR sector remains, like almost all sectors, in a phase of « cautious » investments, this gives us hope for the future of the field.

We also invite you to check out the slightly more forward-looking articles on the market in China, work in the Metaverse or people’s expectations in the tourism sector. These are also quite optimistic notes on XR developments in the near future. All this with AI of course, but are you surprised?

In terms of usage, announcements are still calm, although there are some interesting developments in the medical field.

See you in a month!
