While last September Meta offered us a vision of the AR glasses of the future with the unveiling of its Orion model, this October, Microsoft announced the discontinuation of its Hololens range, leaving many industrial users by the wayside. Even if Microsoft’s strategy has been quite chaotic in recent months, the announcement remains quite surprising since the uses of AR have been growing steadily for years.

Meta, as we have seen, continues its developments in the sector and has also announced that Ray-Ban Meta glasses are great commercial successes. Their growing presence in the landscape is forcing the French CNIL to take an interest in them. Snap also shows that the sector is buoyant, by launching the fifth version of its Spectacles glasses. You will find in this watch other companies such as Samsung, Xpanceo or TCL which are advancing in hardware development.

At RA’pro, we were very interested this month in NoCode / LowCode with a little disappointment: No XR companies at the NoCode Summit in Paris while many solutions are available and widely used. Looking forward to the 2025 edition!

On the usage side, note in particular Walmart’s announcement that AR (and XR) is one of its « basic » tools. Yet another indicator that the sector is booming.

See you in a month!

Summit NoCode and… NoAR! – Augmented Reality – Augmented Reality
With more than 3,000 participants from 50 countries and 160 speakers, the NoCode Summit 2024, held in Paris on October 16 and 17, was a great success. However, as a player in the immersive world, I felt a glaring lack: the absence of immersive technologies such as AR and VR, which are essential to the future of innovation. A look back at a successful event, but which left out a crucial technological aspect.
